Blog Journal 6
I looked at the website of my former middle school for this post- https://wlms.palmbeachschools.org Wellington Landings has students in grades 6, 7, and 8. On this site you can see all of the contact information for administrators, the bell schedule and calendar, school safety information, a staff directory, and more. You can also find a list of teacher pages, which I hoped was going to send me to classroom pages, but it was just a small bio and general information. It seems that most teachers probably use a private website not listed on this website.
I think utilizing a classroom website will help me reach my professional goals because it will provide more resources and information for my students. If they forget their study guide in their locker, it will also be provided on the website, allowing them to study and perform well on their tests. It also better prepares them for college, as all colleges have online software like Canvas or Blackboard that operate in that same manner. A classroom website also allows for easier communication with parents, something that they always appreciate; having help from parents will make accomplishing my goals easier.
The Sandbox is always a fun experience that gets me excited to incorporate technology in my classroom. The smart boards specifically are most applicable in my future English class. It reduces the need for me to purchase and replace things like Expo markers, erasers, etc. so that I can spend that money or time elsewhere. It also allows me to have students come up and participate more seamlessly as I have control over much of it. I also like the idea of having smart tablets or small laptops for my students in the classroom. They can use them individually to write papers on Google Docs or work collaboratively on group assignments.
