"The Flipped Classroom" is a new teaching method that is transforming classrooms, students, and teachers. In a typical classroom, teachers lecture and teach during class, then send their students home with homework. In a Flipped Classroom, students watch instructional videos at home and work through problems during class time. This means that the teacher is present when students may be struggling and can help them work through what they don't understand; it also means that advanced students can work at their own pace while students who are struggling get more attention from teachers. This seems like a great way to address student needs while also increasing time.

Open educational resources are exactly what their name suggests- educational resources that are open to everyone. They attempt to close the gaps that are created in education due to lack of district or state funding, location, and more.

This website explains a bit more in depth about OER. It talks about how different OER might be under different licenses, changing how they may be utilized by teachers and students. The article also discusses how laws about this are changing due to the change in federal government administrations. At the end of the article it says that a potential downside to OER is that some students may have material that is of higher quality than another due to the ability to edit OER; this may be true, but teachers have the ability to assess the OER themselves and determine its validity. If anything, OER works towards equity in school materials, giving students access to newer material instead of old textbooks simply because their schools can't afford the new ones.
